- Habitat Enhancement Projects are done to encourage structural diversity so that
many species may benefit. In some cases, we may focus solely on a few species that
may be of particular risk in certain areas. RMBO guides its endeavors by focusing
on at-risk species identified by individual State conservation plans (i.e., CDOW’s
Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy).
- Not all projects are the same! Every ranch/property is different and will have different
wildlife habitat enhancement potential. This will be dependent on several things
including management goals of the landowner, property size, topography, and adjacency
to other wildlife habitat among others.
- With the approval and interest of the landowner, RMBO partners with several groups
to achieve habitat enhancement projects. This helps to share the cost of individual
projects.
- If the landowner is interested in doing any level of habitat enhancement on their
property, RMBO can clarify what options the landowner has to fund such endeavors.
Our biologists are trained with knowledge about how USDA’s Farm Bill can fund habitat
projects. RMBO’s multiple partners have additional sources of funding that may be
used for such habitat enhancement projects. In addition, we can describe what opportunities
exist for economic diversification (ex. eco-tourism) if the landowner is interested.
