The Board of Directors guides and supports RMBO through strategic planning, financial oversight, and fund-raising.

Larry Modesitt, MBA, Chair
Larry is President of Modesitt Associates, Inc., a 10-person consulting and interim management firm with offices in Michigan and Colorado. Modesitt focuses on improving business bottom lines through Operational Profit Solutions. Larry is a Certified Quality Engineer from the American Society for Quality and a Certified Turnaround Practitioner from the Turnaround Management Association. He received a BA from Williams College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Larry is a Director of Colorado Field Ornithologists and is an enthusiastic birder.

Carol Cochran, PhD, Vice-Chair
Carol worked as the Manager of Lifelong Learning at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and was Director of Education and Programs at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum before retiring.

Warren Taylor, PhD, Secretary
Warren recently retired from a career in academic library administration. He serves on the North Metro Community Services Board of Directors, the Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. Board of Directors, and is President of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill Adams County.

Steve W. Deitemeyer, CF
Steve Deitemeyer is a Certified Forester and owner of Wildland Resources a natural resources consulting firm in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 36 years that included the positions of: Pikes Peak District Ranger, Deputy Forest Supervisor of the Bridger-Teton National Forest and Supervisor of the Rogue River National Forest in Oregon, and Director/Assistant Director of Recreation at the Rocky Mountain Region and the Office of the Chief in Washington D.C. He serves on several board including the Colorado Wildlife Heritage Foundation. He has been an avid birding enthusiast since 1965.

Charles Hundertmark
Chuck is retired public relations counselor and university educator with more than 25 years of experience in public relations and communication. He has held several state and national leadership roles in the Public Relations Society of America. Chuck is a past president of the New Mexico Ornithological Society and the Central New Mexico Audubon Society. He is currently a consultant with The Human Factor Research and Consulting, Inc.

Shawn Nowlan, JD
Shawn is an attorney working for Faegre & Benson L.L.P., with a practice focusing on employee benefit matters and ERISA. Shawn served the Nebraska Legislature from 1996 through 1999 as a legislative counsel, and served from 1999 through 2003 as Legal Counsel to the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems. He is a native of Boulder, Colorado.

Joe Roller, MD
Joe has practiced Gastroenterology for thirty years in Denver and has been an avid birder since childhood. He has served on the board of the Denver Field Ornithologists and is active in the Colorado Field Ornithologists. He served as a District Chairmen in the Denver Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America for three years.

Larry Semo
Larry is the senior ornithologist/ecologist at SWCA, an environmental consulting company, and is responsible for overseeing scientific reports and products to maintain quality science, directing SWCA’s Rocky Mountain region staff, and conducting business development. He also is chair of the Colorado Field Ornithologists’ Colorado Bird Records Committee and, in addition to serving as a peer reviewer for several ornithological journals, serves as listing editor for the American Birding Association, and Colorado regional editor for the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society’s “eBird” program. Larry is a consultant for several bird guides and is an identification instructor for the Master Birding Program of the Audubon Society.

D. Jean Tate, PhD
Jean is an ecologist with over 33 years of applied experience in the consulting world. Her academic work focused on birds including "Morphometric age and sex variation in the Whistling Swan" and "Habitat usage by the Chipping Sparrow in northern Lower Michigan". Her consulting career has focused on diverse studies responsive to the NEPA and CERCLA/SARA/RCRA for numerous land management, military, transportation, and other agencies. Jean is also on the board of Friends of the Front Range Wildlife Refuges. Her passions are preserving habitat, ecological health, and species diversity for avian and other wildlife populations, and promoting appreciation of the natural world for its intrinsic worth and its value to the human mind, body, and spirit.

Tiffany Watts
Tiffany Watts is an Audit Senior Manager in the Denver office of Grant Thornton and a Certified Public Accountant in Colorado. Ms. Watts manages financial audits of public and private companies, ranging in size from start-ups to hundreds of millions of dollars in sales. She has served several industries, including the non-profit sector, and has been with Grant Thornton for seven years. She has a personal interest in conservation and restoration of native habitat and species. She and her husband enjoy hiking and birding
